Elmo Says We Are One

I hope you were able to catch the Inaugural concert on HBO.  What was equally interesting and entertaining were the crowd appeasing video that ran on the jumbotrons, starting at 12:15, with the Fanfare from Star Wars, segueing immediately into God is in the People performed by a vast array of musicians, most unknown to me.

Jennifer Hudson did the National Anthem and then there was Elmo, from Sesame Street, appearing with his friend, the number One.  This made me very happy.  I love Sesame Street but more interesting to me was how clearly it demonstrated, the whole video montage demonstrated, the media acumen of the Obama team and campaign.  There we were, having arrived two or three hours to secure a space within binocular range of the main stage,  standing around on that cold, windy mall (s0me of us lucky enough to be snuggled up in the protective crags of the giant trees lining the walkways) singing along to This Little Light of Mine and dancing along with Ellen. People from Texas, Baltimore, California, Oklahoma chatting together in our little arborial shelter.  All glad to be there.
