It's All About The Numbers: GOTV in Ohio

Everyday there's a new set of numbers: 45% (perhaps) of all registered Floridians voted early, as of October 28 at least 10% of Ohioans had done the same, with Summit County, where I am working, coming in at 15%, the highest for the six counties of Northeast Ohio.

Yesterday we left door hangers on at least 400 doors, and would have hit six hundred if Pat hadn't been discovered by an elderly vigilante as she worked the six floors of  building two of Chapel Hill Towers.

In a couple hours we will head out again.  We are the Blue team.  We go door-to-door encouraging everyone who has not yet voted to get out and vote.  We go back three times, or until the polls have closed.  The White team, now called the Comfort team, brings us food, water, additional packets of addresses so that we don't have to come back to our staging area (The Pipe Fitters Union hall) and can get to as many voters as possible.  The Red Team monitors polling locations for faulty voting machines and abuse of individual voters.

We hope this will be enough for Obama to win.  We hope this will be enough to begin to set our country on a new path where families aren't living in houses that are falling down, where health care is available and affordable and not a cause of bankruptcy, we hope this will be enough to elect a president that the world will respect and trust.

It's time to hit the streets.
